Inspired by the late scholar Pierre-Simon Laplace, Sky & Sea is a restaurant concept that connects two fields which he contributed to – celestial mechanics and tidal dynamics – into a cohesive and inspired brand system.

Of course the obvious connection here is that I’m creating a place where the sea and sky intersect, but at a level deeper than that I think this project shows a lot of my past experience. Before moving into visual communication I spent a solid chunk of time studying computer science and although I learned that it’s not what I want to do professionally I still have a lot of passion and respect for the world of STEM and what the individuals in this field make possible. So this project is also a space where my past and current self are on display.

Driving keywords were researched and explored to create the menu concept. The courses are presented as two set menus to reflect the structured and formulaic approach of his fields, with complete ingredients laid out for each dish. As further homage to Laplace, the entire menu is done in French and the prospective venue set to Caen, the town of his alma mater.
