Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, with family, with friends, and at times even solo. Now very familiar with the pain points of travel, I found one of the biggest among them is the verb itself: travel. Getting from one location to the next is always the most stressful ordeal, and in my habit of figuring out how to suffer less I discovered the one-bagging community, travelers who commit to (or cheat with two) bringing one-bag for any trip no matter the situation. I’ve come to see numerous reasons for why individuals take this lighthearted oath, and I myself have come to my own reason for traveling with one bag. This app is an expression of wanting to share this information with others, so that they can enjoy more time exploring the world.

This is a concept built from the ground-up. I brainstormed and searched the existing market to identify a niche app I could make that aligned with one of my interests. While many general packing list and travel apps exist, none are specific to the experience of one-bagging. This led to the creation of an app that blends a functional packing planner with articles from various authors in order to express different views and reasons behind one-bagging. It uses a friendly hand-drawn character and introductory dialogue to bring a welcoming attitude that helps relieve apprehension around what can be a big ask for people who are used to traveling with multiple checked suitcases.
