San Diego, CA is home to a diverse and growing pan-Asian district known as Convoy. This website redesign and rebranding better represent the values and attitudes of the businesses that breathe life into this vibrant community.

Convoy is a personal place of comfort, excitement, and longing for me. The district is home to some of my favorite restaurants and is always gets multiple visits whenever I’m in my hometown. This project started from wanting to see the area continue to flourish and grow by taking their previous website and redefining its purpose in relation to other channels of information, as well as creating a new identity for visitors and locals alike to remember.

Online presences within the sector were evaluated and successful elements noted. Careful consideration was taken to ensure that the new website would serve a niche separate from social media – which often lacks the foundational, long-form presence that dedicated websites provide. Directions for the rebranding were explored and layouts designed, resulting in a condensed and focused tree of information that remains easy to navigate with a clear interface. The incredible food scene that the district is most known for is captured and expressed in the rebranding, and traditional Asian design elements contrast the ever-changing scene of ‘grammable’ food that continue to evolve with Convoy’s foodscape.
