I’ve always had a fondness for anything related to drinks, from juices to coffee to alcohol, and when tasked with creating a museum exhibit for a French topic during my studies in Lacoste, France, I naturally gravitated towards these subjects and found myself drawn to the mystery around what I only knew as the spirit that makes you go crazy, Absinthe. A thoroughly deep search into its history and controversy led me to a concept that would present to the audience just how divisive a drink it was in its time, from being the inspiration behind numerous pieces of art to the bane of societal dignity.

This project is the culmination of a two month cycle where extensive research and conception create a foundational concept that allows for rapid development of design systems and supporting material. The subject was researched through historical accounts, modern retrospectives, and observation of relevant media. Numerous keywords were ideated, with 5 selected based on a proposed and refined story that would be told through the exhibit. These words served as guiding principles to all points of design, from wall graphics to posters to narrative literature. Original assets were created to support the specific needs of the exhibit and elements are a custom fit for the intended venue.
